Jay invites the family over for dinner in hopes that there won’t be any of the usual drama, but he’s out of luck when Mitch is upset by the wedding-cake topper that Cam’s father whittled out of soap. Meanwhile, Phil tries to help Gloria sell her old apartment; and Claire and the kids have every intention of helping Jay get ready for his special night, but they wind up in one argument after another.
